Today, we remember the life and legacy of Judd Hodge—a heartfelt member of the LaFayette community, an accomplished professional, and a beacon of intelligence and thoughtfulness. Born in LaFayette, Alabama, on April 22, 1952, Judson “Judd” Hodge led an enriching life devoted to his family, his passions, and his unwavering faith until his peaceful passing in Auburn, Alabama, on September 1, 2025.
Judd’s journey began as a proud U.S. Army veteran, an experience that honed a disciplined and handy individual, who went on to exhibit his exceptional mechanical skills while working as a helicopter mechanic in Louisiana’s oil fields. The skies continued to captivate him as he meticulously built ultra-light planes—a testament to his keen eye for precision and flight. His career soared further when he committed three decades of dedication and intellect to the Toyota family, contributing significantly to the industry he took immense pride in.
Judd will be fondly remembered for his deep-rooted Christian faith and as an avid ham radio operator, donning the call sign VE3WXU. He forged connections across the globe, sharing stories and exchanging knowledge with friends and contacts worldwide. Those who knew Judd understood his love for his canine companion, Leo, who was more than a pet but a treasured friend his side.
Intelligence, thoughtfulness, and an ever-present utility belt of handy skills define Judd Hodge’s memorable essence. He was a cornerstone to his family, leaving behind children, Lee Hodge with his wife Bridgette of Eldridge, AL, and Stephanie “Missy” Ramos with her husband Robert of Jacksonville, FL. His spirit continues to inspire his grandchildren Aubrey Hodge, Skye Washington, Joshua Mitchell, Zachary Ingalls, Sailor Ingalls, and Emily Ingalls, as well as his seven great-grandchildren who will hear of his legacy for years to come.
His extended family sees his brother Jeff Hodge, with wife Shirley of Eatonton, GA, alongside his sister-in-law, Linda Hodge of Five Points, AL, each holding cherished memories close to their hearts. His lineage of love and skill will be sustained through an uncle and several dedicated nephews. Judd has now reunited with his beloved parents, Dorothy and Cooper C. Hodge, Sr., and brother, Cooper C. Hodge, Jr., who preceded him in death.
Judson Hodge’s departure is not just a loss, but a reflection of a life brilliantly lived, an example to follow, and a character to aspire to. Today, as we bid farewell, we celebrate a man of substance, humanity, and undeniable impact. Judd Hodge will be remembered, cherished, and deeply missed.
