CCARA FirstTail Gate Was A Success

| Comments Off on CCARA FirstTail Gate Was A Success

Calhoun County Amateur Radio Association held our first annual tailgate event this past Saturday. In my opinion it was a great success. The weather could not have been better, it was neither too hot nor too cold. I looked out over the crowd several times and everyone seemed to be having fun. Thank you to everyone who participated, brought food, or help set up. It’s hard for me to express how proud I am to be a part of this group of people.

CCARA Ham Repeater Finally Goes Up on Chimney Peak

| Comments Off on CCARA Ham Repeater Finally Goes Up on Chimney Peak

Richard on the tower

The CCARA ham repeater finally goes up on Chimney Peak. Since 2013, Chimney Peak in Jacksonville, Alabama, has lacked an amateur radio repeater

This video shows the hard work done while installing a repeater on chimney peak in jacksonville alabama. Our tower climber had to face rain and high winds while on the tower installing this antenna.

A 2M VHF repeater hasn’t been on Chimney Peak in Jacksonville Alabama since 2013. Been a long time coming and on May 9, 2025 the new antenna went up and the repeater set to full power and everyone is ecstatic to have a repeater up and operational. The coverage includes all of Jacksonville and clear audio from Rome and Cedartown GA, Southside and Gadsden, and with the height of about 1800’ moat of Anniston and Oxford! The CCARA club bought and installed the repeater and controller w commercial equipment programmed with time, temperature, and even RSS (radio signal strength) readback. The plan is also to have the capability to link with local repeaters automatically and as needed. Tune in and join the conversation 145.3- 100PL.
